Ok…so are you ready?
“Ready for what?”
Well if you read from my previous post: Golden Era of Action Stars that I’m going be doing a blog post series on how to look like a 90′s action star without the steroids. You’ll need a lot of discipline and about 1 hour 5 times a week to lift.
So what is the most important thing to know?
It’s DIET!!!!!
That’s right! It’s 80% Diet 20% Workout. If you can hammer in the diet, you will be well on your way to an action star body.
So what kind of diet do you need?
It’s basically a diet that focuses on naturally raised meat (ie grass fed meat, free range chicken, wild caught fish), organic vegetables, fruits, some nuts, and healthy fats. You will omit complex carbs (bread, rice, grains, cereal), dairy, and legumes.
But to get ripped and huge, you need to do a paleo diet focused on being lean!
So your paleo diet will only be meat, vegetables, and some fat. Sorry no fruit!
Now before I give you a meal plan, if you want to look like an action star you need to consume 1-1.5 gram of protein for everybody pound (lb) you weigh. Go for 1.5 grams if you want to be HUGE.
Here is what a typical meal should look like (you can swap out the chicken for other lean cuts of meat and adjust the amount of protein to your size):
Breakfast:
6 oz chicken breast seasoned with BBQ Rub
Steamed Kale with Lemon Juice
1 spoonful of Almond Butter
After Breakfast:
Vitamin D
BCAA (branch chain amino acid helps with muscle repair)
Snack:
Egg White Protein Powder (or go for egg whites)
Lunch:
6 oz chicken breast
Steamed Kale with Lemon Juice
BCAA
Pre-workout:
Carrots (or some sort of vegetable cucumber works here)
Post workout:
egg white protein powder
1/2 sweet potato
BCAA
Dinner:
6oz of chicken breast
Steamed kale
Just make sure you adjust the amounts of meat with the how much you need to consume. Try to space your snacks and meals every two hours.
Yes it’s going to be a lot of work to prepare your meals but focus on the goal. A quick tip is to pick one night to cook all your meals for the week and put them in food containers and reheat the food when needed.
Don’t use any salt or added sugar. Feel free to use any herb seasoning like black pepper, thyme, basil etc. I don’t believe in using whey protein because it is diary. For me personally I got better results without it. It’s definitely better to consume real food after a workout. Eat egg whites after a workout but if you have to use Egg White Protein Powder.
I won’t lie. The diet is very restrictive and hard. But don’t cry about it. Don’t be a sissy! You think Arnold Schwartzenegger and Stallone cried and moaned about how nasty the food was and how bland it was?
NO!!!! They didn’t! They just focused on the goal! So jump on the paleo diet horse and ride it hard!!!
Trust me the diet works. I used be a former fat boy and this is what the diet did for me (recent picture).
