Guess what?
I get to start Crossfit again. You see before Crossfit became popular, became over-saturated, and a Crossfit gym was opened on every corner, I discovered it about 5 years ago before anybody knew about it (That’s right, I’m going to claim it!)
Here are pics of me doing a beginning WOD (Work Out of the Day) back then:
Here is me a minute into it…LOL
So what is Crossfit?
Crossfit is circuit training with the combination of gymnastics, Olympic weight lifting, kettle bells, sprinting, rowing, calisthenics, and plyometrics. The focus is functional strength and different workouts everyday. WODS/classes are designed to be done rapidly and competitively.
(Crossfit Games Champ Rich Froning)
It’s become so popular they have have competitions for it called Crossfit Games and is shown on ESPN.
If you never done crossfit, you should check one out. Crossfit gyms normally do a free Saturday session for people who never done it (Check out your local crossfit gym here.).
If there is not a gym near you. You can try this beginner WOD on your own.
As many rounds in 10min:
10 Squat Thrusts with broomstick
10 Push ups on Knees
10 Sit ups
or
1 Round for Time:
10 Burpees
20 Squats
30 Push Ups
20 Squatsy
10 Burpees
Try that and see how many you can do.
Anyways, I love doing Crossfit for a variety of reasons. One is it’s about being functional strong, not looking strong. There are a lot of muscle heads out there that look strong but can’t functionally use their size. Plus I’ve been doing the same workouts for a few months without any variety. I’m looking forward to change it up and the challenge and competition. Plus I need to get back into beach bod shape! Need to get the abs back!
Lets see if I can get back in shape by doing Crossfit WODs and doing a strict paleo diet.
I look like this now:
(This is what happens when you eat a lot of nuts, fruit and dark chocolate.)
But I need to look like this:
I need to return to form. I’ll keep you posted on crossfit and getting in shape
